RHEWA Waagenfabrik August Freudewald GmbH & Co. KG can trace its history back to 1856 when Carl-August Freudewald established a factory for the production of balancing machines. After the First World War, already renamed RHEWA Waagenfabrik, the company began to produce sliding scales to weigh coal and cattle among others. Still family-owned, as reconstruction began after World War II, the company began to expand further, with another generation of the Freudewald family, Karl-August in charge from 1957. There was rapid progress and in 1978, RHEWA introduced its first electronic indicator, and followed up with its first verifiable indicator in 1985, as the electronic scale market grew. Yet another Freudewald generation took charge in 2001, and RHEWA continues to produce its state-of-the-art systems for weighing, using the latest electronicsin every machine that leaves the factory. RHEWA's research and development division is experimenting with innovations to ensure that, combined with hi-tech production methods, this long-established German company remains at the head of its field.
