International specialists in diamond cutting technology

NORTON Saint-Gobain is a company which manufactures specialist diamond cutting machinery for use in the construction and engineering sectors. The firm's origins lie in Worcester, Massachusetts where Franklin B. NORTON Saint-Gobain set up his workshop in 1858. The firm's initial success was in the manufacture of grinding wheels, and made some important advances in the production of vitrified wheels before the turn of the century. International expansion followed, with Saint Gobain NORTON Industrial opening subsidiaries in Germany in 1910 and then France, Italy and the United Kingdom before World War Two. After the War, Brazil and Japan were added to what had become a global distribution network for NORTON Saint-Gobain grinding equipment.

Relocating to Europe and meeting customer demands

In 1990, a key change occurred when the company was bought by the St Gobain group, where it remains. It's current market position is based upon the firm's ability to manufacture high quality diamond cutting equipment, which have delivered ever more effective blades and efficient machinery for users around the world. The company has also relocated from the United States to its current home in Luxembourg, where it can easily link up with its European client base. NORTON st Gobain maintains a comprehensive stock facility in Luxembourg, as well as a research and development facility. Additionally, it has created a support service which covers clients across the world, ensuring that after their purchase they are able to use NORTON cutting equipment effectively and safely. Safety is a crucial aspect of the firm's work, both for its own employees and those of its clients, and the firm's factory in Luxembourg has been fitted with advanced automation systems to enhance safety on the assembly lines. The company is also able to source spare parts and carry out repairs to existing NORTON machinery from its main factory, with an online parts search covering all areas of its product line.
