KONECRANES UK is a British firm which manufacturers and distributes lifting machinery. It works with a broad range of sectors, which include manufacturing industry, ship building, militaries and ports. KONECRANES was founded in the 1910s, and has ever since been based in the Scottish town of East Kilbride. From the 1970s, KONE CRANES began to expand internationally, with ventures in Norway, the USA and France being established. From its main factory in Scotland, the firm produces reliable overhead lifting cranes of more than 1,000 tonnes, as well as workstation lifting systems, jib cranes and electric crane hoists. With this capacity, the firm claims that it can deliver "any lifting application to any industry." KONE Cranes company has a workforce of 240 technicians located in different parts of the UK, and these technicians can help to maintain both KONE CRANES products as well as other makes of crane. They also support a global network of more than 500 service depots, which allows them to maintain more lifting equipment worldwide than any of their competitors. Servicing their cranes is handled by a UK Parts Centre in the Midlands which offers a 24 hours per day service. KONECRANES Inc also provides specialist training for third party employees in lifting techniques from a training centre in Loughborough. KONECRANE also offers a service specific to the nuclear industry, having been active in the sector for more than 50 years.
