RÖMHELD GmbH is a German manufacturer of specialist hydraulic valves, cylinders and other components that are used in industrial machinery and the vehicle manufacturing sector. The company has been operating factories in the town of Friedrichshütte since 1870 when the founder Julius Römheld opened his first workshop. This soon expanded into a fully-fledged steel mill in 1879 as RÖMHELD became a key supplier of materials and components to Germany's rapidly industrializing economy. Another major step forward occurred in 1948 when ROEMHELD established large foundry and manufacturing facilities, and then the opening of an even larger plant in the town of Laibach in 1967.

Innovating and becoming global clamping leaders

RÖMHELD GmbH Friedrichshütte led the way in installing innovative CAD techniques when designing its components, switching to computer-based design as early as 1983. This was complemented in 1995 by the firm opening one of the world's first wholly computer controlled high-bed warehouses, so that components could be stored safely and retrieved immediately to fill the orders of clients. By 2007, ROEMHELD had celebrated over 130 years of continual manufacturing, and had continued to introduce new techniques such as computerised product engineering systems, driving forward advances in the valve and cylinder sectors.
