CONVENIENCE FOOD SYSTEMS or CFS for short was a company of its own that was managed by AEA Investors LP, a private investment company until December 2010. Founded in 1997, CFS was bought over by GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft or GEA for short as part of its food processing technology expansion plan. GEA was already a global leader in equipment lines related to producing beer, instant coffee and milk. The purchase of CFS, which was a global leader in packaging and food processing technology especially for fish, cheese and meat, was to firmly establish itself as a world leader in food processing and packaging technology of a wider scope of food and beverage products. GEA has its main base in Bakel, located east of Helmond in the Netherlands.
