A feeder machine may be used during the construction or finishing process, in order to deliver individual components one-by-one to the next stage of the manufacturing process. Once packaged, a pallet stacker or container stacker is then used to simply and conveniently move the boxed or packaged items to the delivery container or truck. Both packaging and handling machines minimise, or eliminate, the need for manual labour while helping to ensure that items are processed and finished according to specifications.

    Vibrator feeding system

    Vibratory Feeder

The most common form of feeder is that of the vibrating feeder, or vibrator feeder. Components are fed into a bowl, and are then subjected to vibrations that use the mechanical dimensions and shape of the components to deliver them for the next stage in the manufacturing process. Typically, this means that a conveyor chute is used that is designed for the specific shape of the component, and as they are vibrated into position, they will naturally turn and basically bounce into the proper alignment. The vibratory feeders chute then feed the components into another piece of manufacturing machinery, ensuring no manual sorting is required while also ensuring that the pieces are delivered where required and in the position that they are needed.

    Screw Feeder

A screw feeder is used where the flow rate of the component being delivered needs to be closely managed and maintained at a uniform rate. Single screw feeders can be used for basic applications, but those with multiple sets of screws, which may or may not be cambered or tapered, can give greater control especially where the clumping of components may become an issue.

    Component Handling

The components that are sorted during this process may be sent to an additional manufacturing process, or feeders can be used to sort the components into boxes, cartons, and packets ready for finishing and delivery. Once all of the components are packaged, stackers are usually used to move the container from the end of the manufacturing line to a storage area, or directly into containers ready to be shipped.

    Automatic plastic pallet stacker

    Manual Stacker Machine

A manual stacker requires that the operator walk with the machine, but stacker machine will collect the boxes or cartons, and take the load before the operator delivers them to the required area. This type of electric pallet stacker can speed up the finishing and packaging process, while reducing load on operators and packers. Cost savings can be realised very quickly, through the purchase of an effective and appropriate stacker for sale.

    Alternative Options

For especially large packages, or for placing packaged items into containers with awkward, open-top design, the use of a stacker crane may prove essential. These provide the same benefits as a manual stacker, but they are designed for application and use where access is more difficult. The power stacker is similar in design to a forklift, and is primarily used to move whole pallets. Finished components or items are packaged, and typically moved either mechanically or by human operators onto a pallet, and the power stacker is then used to move the pallet to a more convenient location.

    Maximising Manufacturing Returns

Effective component handling and product packaging processes can greatly reduce the overall manufacturing and packaging time required to finish projects. This not only means that factors are able to complete more jobs and work for more clients, but it means that operating costs can be reduced, therefore helping to increase profits and turnaround. Moreover, you have the opportunity, through TradeMachines, to find used vibrating feeders and stackers for sale at lowest prices.
